The General German University Sports Association (adh) is the organizer of over 50 competitions annually in more than 30 sports at the federal level. The sports canon of the adh ranges from the most popular ball sports to classic disciplines and current trend sports. Students and employees of the adh member universities can take part in the competition events as a team, but also as individual starters for their university.

 University sports at Freie Universität Berlin can send student athletes and employees to the German University Championships (DHM) organized by the adh and the adh-open. The adh-Open are reference competitions in sports that strive for inclusion in the adh sports canon and thus for authorization to host a DHM. Students can attend other national adh competitions (adh-Trophy) on their own initiative.

Qualification for international competitions (European University Championships, World Student Championships, Universiades) is only achieved through successful participation in a German University Championship and, in the case of the World Championships and Universiades, additionally through nomination via the relevant professional association.

Registration for the DHM or adh-Open can only be made through the person responsible for competitions in university sports at Freie Universität Berlin.

Way to participate

Athletes who are interested in participating in the German University Championships or the adh-Open can do so with the following steps:

1. Obtain information on possible competitions in the adh competition calendar independently.

2. In coordination with the person responsible for the competition at the FU, it must be assessed whether your own athletic performance meets the competition requirements.

3. The possibility of financial support can be discussed with the person responsible for the competition at the FU.

4. The registration for a competition takes place in coordination or via the competition manager of the FU.
