Freie Universität Berlin is a member of the network for promoting top-class sport at universities in Berlin. The basis for this is the cooperation agreement with the Olympic Training Center in Berlin. In this contract, the university acknowledges the special funding needs that top-class athletes have in order to be able to successfully cope with the "dual career" in competitive sports and academic training.

The eight participating universities were recognized by the DOSB in 2011 for the successful work of the network system. That is why the Free University bears the title "University of Top Sports of the Year 2010".

The Free University promotes student athletes at the Olympic base who have management status within the scope of their legal possibilities and offers support in making their studies more flexible.

Financial support - The Germany Scholarship at the Free University of Berlin

Every year for the winter semester, Freie Universität awards Germany scholarships (also for top-class athletes who are studying), promoting talented and high-performing students and first-year students from all disciplines. In addition to successes at school and / or university, the funding criteria also include special non-university achievements, awards (including previous performance-related funding) and prizes. In the case of top athletes, membership of a national team and corresponding successes in national and international championships are taken into account.

The Germany Scholarship is granted for at least two semesters. The funding amount is € 300 per month per athlete. Further information: www.fu-berlin.de/sites/deutschlandstipendium

The Germany Scholarship for top athletes studying at the Free University of Berlin is made possible in addition to federal funding from the Ernst Reuter Society. Many Thanks!
